Der moglichst tiefgehende Beitrag zur Verhaltnisbestimmung zwischen Islam und Christentum arbeitet nahe an den Texten selbst und legt deren Eigenverstandnis zugrunde. Wahrend Paulus den Kern des Glaubens darin erkennt, Jesus als Christus zu verstehen, in dem und durch den Gottes Heilswirken erfolgt, lehnt der Koran gerade diese Position definitiv ab. Bei dieser Bestimmung ist die betrachtende Aussenperspektive entscheidend, die nicht fur eine dieser beiden Religionen Stellung bezieht, sondern die Spannung zwischen beiden bestehen lasst. Entscheidend ist in dieser Darstellung eher die Anerkennung der Position des je Anderen als eine Harmonisierung oder Konfrontation.
